Alight at Bedok Reservoir Park
This is a NICE park to cycle, stroll, jog, exercise, go fishing, kayaking* and many more. There's not much crowd unlike the East Coast Park and the breeze here is FANTASTIC. Dont forget your sunblock although there are loads of shady areas for those afraid to get sunburnt.
* Rental of kayaks at Water Ventures (WV) : $15/hr, $8/per additional hour
WV also offers activities such as dragon boating, windsurfing and sailing which require a Level 1 certification and as such you need to complete a course, which is also provided by WV. Do take note that WV conducts power boating courses but you are not allowed to rent the boats even after completion of the course.
NB : Bring your own bicycles as we couldnt find any place that rented them
Segments of the 4th Generation Berlin Wall known as 'Border Wall 75 or Grenzmauer' installed from 1975 - 1989. Each wall is designed by graffiti artist Dennis Kaun and is 3.6m tall and 1.2m wide
This wall shows a bright and joyful King which represents Freedom
Here is a clolorless and blindfolded King which represents one who is oblivious to the wishes of the people.
The back of the walls which are bare and unpainted were revealed when a smooth circular pipe at the top of the wall was removed. The steel joints and holes on the walls (known as 'eyes'), for lifting purposes, were also exposed once the motar along the edges were knocked away.
Kings of Freedom were contributed by Mr and Mrs Robert A Hefner III and unveiled by Minister George Yeo on 8th January 2010.
NB : Refrain from walking on the grass as there are numerous sticks, twigs, etc. I got lazy at one point and decided to cut across and accidentally stepped on a stick which snapped on the vein on my feet...yes, I saw stars :(
The jetty for fishing. (Only artificial bait is allowed, in order to maintain the quality of the water)
For those looking for adventure, you can try out the Forest Adventure activities. Grand course (Adults : $36, Juniors under 18years : $32), Kids Course : min height : 1.10m, max 1.45m : $24). Reservation required
